Brock C. Akers is one of Texas’ most accomplished trial lawyers, with more than four decades of experience representing clients in complex civil litigation. Founder of The Akers Firm, he has built a distinguished practice handling product liability, premises liability, retailer liability, construction, railroad, trucking, automotive, and complex business disputes. Having tried more than 400 lawsuits to verdict, he is widely recognized for his exceptional courtroom advocacy and strategic representation in high-stakes litigation.
Mr. Akers began his legal career with Vinson & Elkins before joining Phillips & Akers as a Shareholder. Following the firm’s merger with a regional practice in 2014, he established The Akers Firm. Throughout his career, he has earned a reputation as one of Texas’ leading trial advocates, successfully representing businesses and individuals in a broad range of complex litigation matters. His extensive trial experience, combined with decades of courtroom success, has made him a trusted advisor in challenging and high-value disputes.
A recognized leader within the legal profession, Mr. Akers has served on the Texas Pattern Jury Charge Committee for more than 30 years, making him the longest-serving member in the state’s history. He is also a frequent lecturer on trial advocacy and civil litigation topics and is the principal author of The Trial Lawyer Series, a multi-volume set of instructional books for civil trial attorneys.
Mr. Akers has received numerous professional honors throughout his career. He has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America since 1999, holds Martindale-Hubbell’s AV Preeminent rating, and has been recognized by Texas Super Lawyers and AVVO. In 2013, his former firm was named Retailer Liability Firm of the Year for the United States in recognition of its outstanding work in that field.
Mr. Akers was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1981 and is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Northern, and Western Districts of Texas, the United States District Court for the District of Arizona, the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the US Supreme Court.
