Keith E. Donovan is the Managing Partner and Chair of the Executive Committee of Morris James.

In addition to his management responsibilities, Keith is a fierce advocate for persons injured due to the negligence of others, and has more than 30 years of experience litigating personal injury cases, including mass torts and product liability claims.

He is highly regarded by clients as a skillful and composed trial attorney with sharp analytical skills. Keith is respected by his colleagues for his depth, responsiveness and ability to see the big picture.

For the first 10 years of his career, Keith concentrated on the representation of insurance companies and insureds. In 2002, Keith began representing injured individuals, and now exclusively represents plaintiffs in injury and insurance-related matters. His deep understanding of the tactics and strategies used by insurance companies in defending claims is a unique advantage to his clients.

Keith is a seasoned trial attorney, who has successfully litigated thousands of civil cases over the course of his career. He works tirelessly to settle cases outside of the courtroom, expediting resolution of the claim for his clients. Inside the courtroom, Keith is prepared, focused, and eager to win. He has tried over 45 cases to verdict, a noteworthy accomplishment as the litigation process often leads to settlement during mediation or arbitration.

As such, Keith is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, an invitation-only national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges. Members must have tried at least 10 civil jury trials to conclusion to be considered for invitation into the association. He was invited to ABOTA in 2005. In 2010, he was elected as President of the Delaware Chapter. In 2011, he was elected as Treasurer of the Delaware Chapter and currently serves in this role.

Additionally, Keith is a frequent speaker on personal injury insurance issues and on trial techniques and strategies. He is often selected by his peers to serve as an arbitrator or mediator.

Morris James represents clients in complex litigation in the various Delaware courts. We work on multi-faceted cases from start to finish against top-tier adversaries, with a strict focus on achieving our client’s business and litigation objectives.

Superior Legal Ability. Most importantly, we deliver solutions to clients in high-value, high-stakes litigation. Our litigation approach is comforting to clients and deeply grounded in facts and precedent—not hyperbole.

Regard by the Bench. Our litigation style, quality work product, and oral advocacy are highly regarded among the Delaware bench, as evidenced by the long list of former judges and chancellors who joined the firm. Our corporate litigation practice accelerated in 1985 when Grover Brown joined the firm after his term as Chancellor of the Court of Chancery. Since that time, many of our lawyers have been selected for the bench and we have welcomed several to the firm post-judicial appointments, including current Partner and former Vice Chancellor John Noble.

Trusted Counsel to Clients and Competitors. Our clients and competitors respect our reasoned, accurate, and focused guidance and counsel.

Deep Bench. We have an impressive roster of lawyers from junior associates, with exceptional analytical skills, through the ranks up to our partners. Because of our deep bench, we are able to staff matters based on skillset, providing clients the best team possible. Specifically, our Partners and former Vice Chancellor John Noble offer our clients a unique perspective on cases in the Delaware Court of Chancery.

eDiscovery focus. Unlike other Delaware law firms, we have a robust, in-house eDiscovery team, who often takes the lead on eDiscovery issues in our cases. We are truly a full-service firm in this practice area.

Morris James is a leading provider of sophisticated legal services with 70 lawyers located in six offices throughout Delaware. We are a full service firm helping Delaware corporations, businesses and private clients address complex legal concerns. Our clients-first philosophy, multi-disciplinary approach and collective experience earn us high regard from clients, peers and the business community.

From the outset, we have been client-focused and team-oriented, seeking to serve our clients consistent with the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. Our future will be premised on the core cultural values that have brought us 90 years of success.
